Window Graphics & One-Way Vision Film

Window Graphics & Film

UK Install installs window graphics and one-way vision film for shops, offices and brands. We fit perforated window film, full-colour window vinyl, cut lettering and frosted privacy film to glass across London, Kent and Essex, and nationwide. Our teams work out of hours so your windows change without interrupting trade.

What window graphics do we install?

Shop windows are the first thing a customer sees, and the glass in an office often carries the brand more than any sign. We install every common type of window graphic, including graphics produced by your agency or your usual print partner:

  • Perforated one-way vision film that carries a full image outside while staff and customers can still see out.
  • Full-colour window vinyl for campaigns, product launches and seasonal displays.
  • Cut vinyl lettering for opening hours, logos and shopfront details.
  • Frosted and etch-effect film for privacy on meeting rooms, partitions and street-level offices.
  • Glass manifestation to make large panes visible and safer to walk past.
  • Removal of old film and adhesive before new graphics go up.

Recent examples include Dunhill window vinyl on a London high street, large-format Apple iPad window vinyl and branded vinyl on office glass partitions. For campaign planning, our retail window graphics guide covers artwork, timing and common mistakes.

How does one-way vision film work?

One-way vision film is a vinyl punched with thousands of small holes. The image is printed on the outer face and the reverse is black. From outside, your eye reads the printed dots as a complete picture. From inside, the black backing lets you look through the holes to the street. The effect works best when it is brighter outside than in, so during the day it gives good privacy and a clear view out. At night, with lights on inside, the effect weakens and people outside can see in more easily.

Films are described by their perforation ratio, which is the share of printed material to open holes. The ratio changes both the look of the graphic and how much you can see through it. Our article on perforated window film goes into more detail.

Which window film should I choose?

Film typeWhat you see from outsideWhat you see from insideTypical use
Perforated film, 50/50Full image, slightly softerA clearer view outShops and offices where daylight and visibility matter
Perforated film, 70/30Stronger, more saturated imageA darker, more restricted view outPromotional windows where image impact comes first
Solid printed vinylFull image with maximum colourNo view throughWindow displays, blanked-off glass, back-of-house areas
Frosted or etch-effect filmObscured, frosted glass lookDiffused light, no clear viewPrivacy on meeting rooms and ground-floor offices

Perforated film fitted to the outside of the glass is normally finished with an optically clear laminate, which stops dirt and water collecting in the holes and protects the print. If the film goes on the inside face, it needs to be printed for that purpose. We will check this before your artwork goes to print.

How does window film installation work?

  1. Consultation and quote. Tell us about the windows, the look you want and your dates. We give a free, no-obligation quote.
  2. Site survey. We measure each pane, note frames, mullions, handles and door furniture, and check access. Accurate sizes mean graphics fit first time.
  3. Installation. We remove any old film, clean the glass thoroughly and apply the new graphics. We fit before opening, after closing or overnight so the store keeps trading. See how we approach bubble-free vinyl application.
  4. Sign-off and aftercare. You get photographs of every window. We can come back to change campaigns, repair damage or remove graphics at the end of a promotion.

Window graphics for multi-site retailers

Changing windows across a chain means the same campaign has to look identical on very different shopfronts. We survey each site, flag any windows where the standard artwork will not fit, then install to a schedule with one dedicated project manager and photographic sign-off for every store. Our retail rollouts service covers the UK and Europe, and we also look after POS installation inside the store at the same visit.

Where do we install window film?

We are based in London and fit window graphics every week across Greater London, Kent and Essex, from high street shops to office blocks and shopping centres. We cover the rest of the UK for single sites and rollouts. If your windows are part of a wider branding job, our wall graphics and murals and vinyl graphics installation services can be booked alongside.

Frequently asked questions

Can people see through one-way vision film at night?

Yes, to a degree. The one-way effect relies on it being brighter outside than inside. After dark, with interior lights on, people outside can see in more easily, while the printed image becomes harder to see from the street.

What is the difference between 50/50 and 70/30 perforated film?

The numbers describe how much of the film is printed material and how much is open holes. A 50/50 film gives a clearer view out and a softer image. A 70/30 film gives a stronger image and a darker view out.

Do I need permission to put graphics in my shop window?

Sometimes. Some window advertising can need advertisement consent, and listed buildings, conservation areas and landlord or shopping centre rules can add restrictions. Check with your landlord and local planning authority before a large or permanent scheme.

Can window vinyl be removed without damaging the glass?

Yes. Removable and standard window films come off glass cleanly when taken down properly, and we clean off any adhesive residue before new graphics go up.

Can you install window graphics outside opening hours?

Yes. Most of our window work is done before opening, after closing, overnight or at weekends. Read more about out-of-hours retail installation.
