Rolling out a rebrand or campaign across Europe is a different challenge to a UK-only programme. Multiple countries mean multiple languages, varying site access rules, different building regulations and a lot more travel. Done properly, though, every store from Dublin to Dusseldorf launches looking identical. Here is what a well-run European retail rollout involves.
One team, every country
The temptation is to appoint a different local contractor in each territory. It rarely works. Standards vary, communication fragments and the brand ends up looking slightly different in every market. Sending one experienced install team across Europe keeps the method, the materials and the finish identical everywhere — and gives you a single point of accountability.
Plan the logistics before the graphics
- Travel and accommodation planned around the install schedule, not the other way round.
- Materials shipped ahead to each site, or carried with the team where customs allow.
- Customs paperwork for print and equipment moving between territories post-Brexit.
- Contingency days built in — a delay in one city should not collapse the whole schedule.
Language and local variations
Artwork is rarely identical across markets. Translated copy changes text lengths, which changes panel sizes and layouts. Getting localised artwork checked and approved well before the team travels avoids the most expensive mistake in any European rollout: arriving on site with the wrong print.
Consistent reporting across borders
When head office cannot easily visit sites in six countries, documentation becomes the control mechanism. Photographic sign-off and a completion report for every location give you the same visibility over a store in Milan as one in Manchester.
