Seasonal Retail Graphics: Planning Your Changeovers

Festive Great Gifts store display with iridescent star decorations, hanging lights, and blue holiday ceiling design.

Christmas artwork that goes up in November has to come down in January, and the same is true of every seasonal campaign in the retail calendar. Getting those changeovers right — across one store or two hundred — is a scheduling exercise as much as an installation one. Here is how to plan them.

Book the calendar backwards

Start from the date the campaign must be live and work back: install window, delivery of print, artwork sign-off, site survey. Seasonal work concentrates every retailer into the same few weeks, so the teams and the print capacity get booked early. Leaving it late is what turns a straightforward changeover into a premium-rate emergency.

The retail seasons that drive installs

  • Christmas — the biggest and least forgiving deadline of the year.
  • Black Friday — short, high-impact, often overlapping with Christmas builds.
  • Sale periods — January and mid-season, usually fast turnarounds.
  • Back to school and spring/summer — steadier, but still fixed dates.

Removal is half the job

Seasonal graphics are only up for weeks, so the adhesive should be chosen for clean removal. Careful takedown protects the glass, walls and floors underneath and leaves a surface ready for the next campaign — which matters when the same window will be redressed five or six times a year.

Install overnight, trade as normal

Seasonal changeovers are the classic case for out-of-hours work. The old campaign comes down and the new one goes up after closing, so customers arrive to a fully redressed store and the business never loses a trading hour.
